Introduction

This is a simple, step-by-step guide that will give you the necessary knowledge and toolchain to successfully build and deploy your TV application for the Opera TV Store. It is targeted towards anyone wanting to create applications for the Opera TV Store for the first time.

Step 1 - Knowledge

The following documents contain important information and guidelines regarding developing applications for the Opera TV Store. The first step towards successfully creating your application is to familiarize yourself with the information provided in these documents.

Step 2 - Toolchain

This archive package contains a Virtual Box™ image and the Opera TV Emulator .vbox file. The Opera TV Emulator works as a virtual machine on Windows, Linux and Mac OS X. The emulator allows developers to test TV applications in an environment which replicates that of a connected TV. This helps to ensure compatibility and suitability for use with the Opera engine for TV.

Step 3 - Sample application

Sample TV applications can be found in the Examples directory in this package.

To see how the sample applications work using the Opera TV Emulator, either save the application files on a server and provide a URL for index.html, or share the files with VM and open it in Opera TV Emulator (file://localhost/mydata/.../index.html). For instructions on how to do this, please read the sharing folders section of the user guide.
